Description

The Brooklyn Battlers are a professional baseball team based in the borough of Brooklyn in New York City. They play in Major League Baseball's National League East Division.  They were one of two of the first Expansion teams created in 1958 in response to the relocation of the Brooklyn Dodgers, and New York Giants to Los Angeles, and San Francisco.  They were the brain child of Newspaper owner Barry Brooks who rallied the Borough of Brooklyn to create a team to replace their beloved Dodgers.  The played their first two seasons in Ebbets Field before moving in their new home Flatbush Field.  The Ballpark was renamed in 1972 to Jackie Robinson Park.

Ironically, Jackie Robinson Park was built on Flatbush Avenue at the exact location Walter O'Malley wished to build the Dodgers new stadium which Robert Moses refused their attempt to build as it was zoned only for Park and recreation construction.   It was the efforts of Lawrence Dodd, owner of the Empire State Railroad who had brought the parcel of land for freight movement into Brooklyn and Long Island did they circumnavigate the political red tape in 1957 to secure the Battlers would have a home in Brooklyn.

The shortest distance is called Downtown as it follows the Flatbush Avenue south.  The Park is has four tiers, but only holds 45,000.  It is directly across the street from the Barclay Center (Which use to be part of the Parking facility for the Ballpark).</b>

This took a lot of time to make.  It's much easier measuring field dimensions with Pen and Paper.  Unlike most older ballparks, the Jackie Rob has one of the deepest Centerfield in the Major Leagues.  I based that decision on Briggs Stadium (Tiger Stadium).  Unfortunately there are no overhangs.  This was not the first location ever I had for the ballpark, it took me 10 years actually.  I named it after Jackie Robinson in 1997.

Even though center field is very deep, from the looks of this ballpark I would hesitate to call it "pitcher-friendly".
